Pi Day Celebration
Monday, March 17, 2014

IVA's Math Club - the Primes are sponsoring our first club sponsored full-school event! In celebration of Pi we will be learning how to identify the ratio of circumference to diameter in class and how to find the area of a circle.

We will take this new learning to lunch for a group competition. Students will find area and circumference of "pies" at their tables and bring their answer to our parent panel who will ask them also their favorite pi fact and their argument for what virtue it would have required to discover the relationship between the circumference and diameter of circles on index card.

Parents - you are welcome to join us on Pi day to calculate with a group of students, be on the parent panel and help us eat pies. Any pie donations will be accepted as well!! Come one, come all and celebrate this great discovery... and enter the raffle to get a chance to throw a pie at Mr. McCurry and Ms. Noble's.

All procedes earned will go to entry fees for the Primes' next math competition.

***Because we have a Faculty Only day on Friday, 3/14 (the real Pi day) we will be taking over St. Patrick's Day with Pi!
