By signing this form the student and parent are in agreement about their intent to enroll in the Intellectual Virtues Academy (IVA). IVA is a charter middle school authorized by the Long Beach Unified School District. A charter school is an independently operated, non-sectarian, non-profit, open enrollment school. Our mission is to create a small learning community based on the Intellectual Virtues model — fostering personal qualities of a good thinker or learner. There are no admissions requirements for IVA; all entering 6th, and 7th and 8th graders are welcome to apply. Pursuant to CA Education Code 47605, IVA does not limit enrollment access for pupils with disabilities, academically low-achieving pupils, English learners, neglected or delinquent pupils, homeless pupils, or pupils who are economically disadvantaged as determined by eligibility for any free or reduced-price meal program, foster youth, or pupils based on nationality, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Completing the application is not a guarantee of admission. IVA will hold a public lottery to determine admission. Applicants are encouraged to apply to their home middle school or other middle school of choice in the event all available spots are filled.
